MUSU Manchester - restaurant design by Ludlam Studios

Design and delivery of a contemporary sushi restaurant and late-night lounge in central Manchester.
 

The project draws on Japanese design principles, combining a restrained material palette with carefully controlled lighting and spatial sequencing to create a calm, immersive environment. The layout was developed to support both dining and late-night use, allowing the space to transition from a restaurant into a lounge without compromising functionality.
 

Integrated LED installations were used to introduce a dynamic visual layer, enabling the atmosphere to shift throughout the evening while remaining aligned with the overall design language. BIM workflows and point cloud data were utilised during development to coordinate the scheme and ensure accuracy through to delivery.
 

The result is a cohesive, high-performance space that balances atmosphere, flexibility and operational requirements, establishing Musu as a distinctive presence within Manchester’s hospitality scene.
